What is your “future healed self”?
It’s the version of you that feels grounded, connected, and free from the old weight of pain. The part of you that already exists inside, even if you only catch glimpses of it. EMDR and trauma therapy help you clear the path so you can meet that version of yourself more fully.
Why you may feel far from it right now:
Many of us carry outdated narratives — stories shaped by childhood wounds, trauma, or what others told us about who we are. These stories can harden into a fixed identity that keeps us disconnected from our deeper self. The truth is, those narratives are not the whole of who you are. Beneath them, your future healed self has always been waiting.
How to start envisioning your future healed self:
-
Close your eyes and imagine: What would it feel like to wake up with less heaviness in your chest?
-
Notice the details: How does this version of you speak to yourself? Move through the world? Connect with others?
-
Anchor it in the present: Write down one quality your future healed self carries — maybe “peace,” “courage,” or “playfulness.” Look for ways to practice that quality today, even in small ways.
Healing is not about becoming someone new — it’s about rediscovering the you that has always been there, hidden beneath layers of survival stories and protective strategies.
