Therapy Approaches

We often use an eclectic approach in our work with our clients. Our therapists incorporate the following approaches in their sessions:

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a treatment modality that is skills-based. DBT outlines ways to support someone with Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Mindfulness.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Using CBT, we help client’s take a closer look at the impact of their thoughts. Clients will learn the close relationship between our thoughts, feelings and actions.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness helps us to live in the present moment & create a distance between us and our thoughts. We learn to observe and let go of the urgency to act or react. This is also an effective way to learn how to stay in our optimal window of tolerance.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

During parts work we help clients to differentiate and elevate the Self so that it can take the lead
in the client’s life. The goal is to achieve balance, harmony and connection within the internal
systems.

Sensorimotor Therapy

Sensorimotor psychotherapy is a body-centered approach that works to identify and treat the somatic symptoms from unresolved trauma. It can involve providing psychoeducation on the window of tolerance, the triune brain, and highlights how trauma impacts the nervous system to foster greater self-understanding.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a treatment known to
treat PTSD and it’s known to effectively treat many other conditions, such as low sense of self-worth, Anxiety, Depression, Phobias, etc.

Meet Our Team

Jenany Jeyarajan

Practice Owner

My clients describe me as warm and easy to open up to.  It is important to me that the treatment plan fits my clients’ goals and that this is a collaborative approach.

Together we will work to achieve the changes you want for yourself, identify the root of the problems or symptoms you are facing, and you’ll learn more about yourself through the process.

Our work can lead to a deeper understanding of yourself:  Your inner fears, wounds, outdated and/or inaccurate negative core beliefs about yourself, needs and wants that are repressed, etc.  Unlocking these inner and often unconscious struggles will lead to powerful healing experiences, self-compassion and a deep sense of self-worth. For me it’s a privilege to be a part of your healing journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Individual psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy or counseling, involves one-on-one sessions between a therapist and a client. It aims to help individuals understand and address emotional, behavioral, or psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship problems. Therapists utilize various approaches and techniques tailored to the specific needs and goals of the client.

EMDR therapy is a specialized psychotherapy approach designed to help individuals process traumatic memories and negative beliefs associated with those memories. It involves a structured eight-phase process that includes bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, taps, or sounds) to facilitate the brain’s natural healing process. EMDR is particularly effective for treating PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and other trauma-related disorders.

EMDR intensives are extended therapy sessions that typically last several hours or even multiple days, during which a client receives concentrated EMDR therapy. Instead of spreading out sessions over several weeks or months, intensives offer a more condensed and focused approach to treatment. This format can be particularly beneficial for individuals who want to accelerate their healing process or address specific issues more comprehensively.
